Bowling in Almeria

Results and reports of the successful Costa Blanca FEB National Open Tournament during May, Champion of Champions pairs competition at Emerald Isles and Portugal and Spain test match at Cabrera bowling clubs which took place in June and reported on at the start of the summer will be found on the net together with the OMM Invitation Mied event held at Cabrera 12/13th October at www. bowlinginspain.com
The winter started with the last of the Divison of Honour games which is an Provincial inter club competition where a team of ten players play all four disciplines, rinks, triples, pairs and singles, home and away. 2008 winners were Indalo Bowling Club.
The latest Costa Del sol Test Match took place 1st and 2nd November despite horrendous weather, a healthy win for Spain was achieved 37/27. This also was the final trial for the world Qualifiers at the Atlantic Rim Championships in Johannesburg in May resulting in Debbie Colquhoun and Mick Johnson from Indalo Bowling Club being selected.
We now continue the winter season with the provincial inter club FAB Triples Trophy competition, between Indalo and Cabrera on 11th November, Almeria and Cabrera on 18th November, Indalo and Almeria on 25th November.  A competition where each team play four teams of mixed triples, home and away.
FAB inter club Men and Ladies Pairs at Cabrera and Almeria Bowling Clubs respectively, takes place on the 19th, completed by 22nd November. FAB Singles Champion of Champions at Indalo Bowling Club starts on 1st, ending on the 3rd December.
Finally the last of the open competitions for 2008 is the non-federation event the Miraflores Open Pairs, will take place at Almeria Bowling Club on the 8th and 9th December.
2009 starts with Division of Honour competitions followed by the Andalucian Championsips, which will take place in the Almeria region this year from 2nd to the 10th February. The continuation of the normal provincial federation competitions will also take place during the year. Firm dates and more information will be published in my next report in the spring of 2009.
