2012 Drawn Rinks Competition Report & Photographs
Monday 29th October the re-scheduled ALBC Drawn Rinks commenced, with eight teams entering the competition. The first round/quarter final took place on the morning of Monday 29th followed by the Semi –finals in the afternoon.
The first semi –final featured a team comprising of C.Wright, Patsy Tonkin, Pat Beattie and Stan Brisco. Which on the eleventh end was level at 9-9 against Roy Tonkin, Kieth Rainer, Graham Hughs, and Norman Atkins.Unfortunately on the fifteenth end Roy’s Team lost seven shots and only scored one more shot giving Colin’s team a good win.
The other semi- final was a very comfortable win for Les Pratchett, Catherine Patrick, John Mannall and Joan Parsons against a team that plyed well in the first round, but on the day an out of form team of, Terry Rodgers, Vic Parsons, Ken Sykes and Liz Quintrell.
All members now looked forward to on paper to a very good game for the Final. And indeed it was, a very exciting occasion with lots of support looking on. Les Pratchetts team were level with Colin’s team at 9-9 on the ninth end, again on the sixteenth end at 16-16. On the seventeenth end Les’s team were piling them into the head and were at least holding four shots. Colin then who wasn’t a happy bunny until this point, fired at the head, missed with his first attempt, but the second hit the target and put the jack out of play. Two shot were earned on the extra end by Colin’s team and although Les’s team won one shot on the last end the championship went to Colin and his team.
Congratulations must go to all players giving us a quality final.
Well done again for the spectators who enjoyed a beautiful sunny afternoon supporting the final. Please don’t forget this report and photographs will be posted on our website www.bowlingalmeria.com
